Holiday Research. Dream Of Red Mansions

"A dream of red mansions" is a novel mainly describing Jia's daily life, which involves massively description of festivals. In Mr. Guo Ruoyu's " a dream of red mansions", there are approximately 60 festivals, concentrating in the 37th,76th, and its quantity is without parallel in novel history. Although the former scholars have concerns on this issue, they concentrated more in the analysis of individual festival description, or focus on the research and exploration of customs and culture, neglecting their function on literary art. Therefore, this article pays more attention on the literary's function of the description about customs. This research is helpful not only to our thorough understanding about literary achievements of "A dream of red mansions", but also to determining the novel's status in the Chinese classical novel history and clearing off the inheritance relations among novels.Besides introduction, the paper constitutes mainly by four parts:In the first part,the auther has mainly analyed the social and cultural context in which the description of festival appears in "stong story".The auther thought the appearance of description about festivals is closely related with the evolution of economic of patterns and the QingDynasty, the social environment changes,Revivalism.In the second part, the auther has classcified festivals in "a dream of red mansions"and summarized its characteristic:About the distribution,the description of festivals is the chapter 80 more than the anther 40 and the festival focused on the single description;About the approches of description,the same content has defference and different content contain the same;About the detail of festivals,"a dream of red mansions"contains the food, the music,the poem,the song, the wine games and so on.In the third part, the auther has mainly studied the function of description about festvals in the literary: Firstly,the novel provide the place and plan for portraying the character image and unfolding the character disposition. Secondly, the description festivals has certain implication function and deepen of the themes;Thirdly,the novel impels the development of the plot and breadens the social contents.In the fourth part,the description of festivals referent and innovate from the previous work. The paper expound the function about the content and model for the previous work,such as "JinPingMei","SanYanErPai".
