The mainstream literature and films and television programs in China since the founding of New China are filled with national ideology such as Red Sun, Hong Yan, Hong Qi Pu and so on. But the male images in these films are almost dimensional men. Since the Cultural Revolution ended in the late 1970s, The Chinese literary activities have a normal development track. The male images in literary and artistic works returned to people's true colors. Art, especially films, considered the image as the core.This paper first chapter presents the basic ideas and chapters main argument. The second chapter focuses on the horizon, the male image and cultural characteristics, main image from the father image, the husband image and hero image in Jiang Wen's movie. Chapter 3 focuses on the features of male image in Jiang Wen's movies and multiple cultural significance of male image. The fourth chapter discusses the comparison of male image between western movie and Jiang Wen's works used for reference, mainly from the story and characters to analysis.Jiang wen's movies are influenced by the world film works, we only from In the Heat of the Sun and Once Upon a Time in America. He borrowed foreign numerous classics of certain scenes in movies language, modeled the Chinese cultural temperament is filled with the male characters, this is worth studying and discussing Chinese films. Of course the let bullets fly "clearly showing the film market of Jiang Wen made some concessions, although no harm the character image, but also hard to avoid can bring Chinese film an illusion.Director Jiang Wen as one of Chinese film directors of new generation appeared in a rather special film circumstances. In the works of director Jiang Wen, the traditional male image has changed. He has four movies, but every movie strikes deep roots in the hearts of the people. This research is carried out based on these understandings. In this paper, the question expatiated above is the start of this paper's topic to be discussed just about. The male images in Jiang Wen's films represent youth and sunshine, kind but foolish, simple and complex, heroic but lonely, and success and stray. The male image is not a simple "signifier" but a ambiguous symbol.
