| There are a lot of researches on narcissism abroad, however, there is few researchers study on this topic in China. The Empirical Study on narcissism is nearly blank. It is very necessary to study about the narcissism of Chinese now. In the meanwhile, as globalization speeds up recently, more and more US multinational corporation come to China. Also, with more opportunities that we may interact with Americans, it is very important to know culture difference between Chinese and American on the narcissism.Previous research indicates that narcissism contains two factors, one is the inflated self-concept, the other is the self-regulatory strategies that mean to maintain and enhance this self-concept. As a kind of universal personality, it has not reach to a conclusion in many aspects of research about narcissism, such as researches on relation between narcissism and age or narcissism and gender. In addition, does there have any culture difference in narcissism? Who has higher level of overconfidence and risk-taking between Chinese and American? All these questions require further research and confirmation. In this research, we recruited 350 participants from Shaanxi Nonnal University and University of Georgia. We adopted NPI to measure the level of narcissism in participants. Meanwhile, we used GGT to explore whether the overconfidence of narcissist is really higher than non-narcissist and whether this overconfidence leads to deficits in decision making and worse outcome. We designed two different tasks. One is the GGT using GKQ and the other is the GGT using non-GKQ. For Chinese, comparing the numbers of population between Chinese provinces can be GKQ to them and comparing the numbers of population between American states can be non-GKQ to them. Reversely, for American, comparing the numbers of population between American states can be GKQ to them and comparing the numbers of population between Chinese provinces can be non-GKQ to them. During the research, we asked participants to take part in either one kind of task and then we gathered these data. Next, we analyzed these relationship between narcissism, overconfidence, risk-taking, GGT points based on these date. Finally, we compared the data between Chinese and American to extend the analysis to the culture difference. The results are showing as follow:(l)Narcissism can influence the result of decision making. Narcissism positively relates to overconfidence, and overconfidence negatively relates to GGT points. Risk-taking did not have any relationship with either NPI or GGT points. And overconfidence entirely mediates the relationship of narcissism and GGT points.(2)Different levels of narcissism show significant difference on confidence and overconfidence. The confidence and overconfidence level of narcissist are significantly higher than non-narcissist, but there is no difference on risk-taking between them. Narcissism has no relationship to age.(3)The confidence, accuracy, and betting acceptance in GGT using GKQ are higher than the data in GGT using non-GKQ. However, the overconfidence in GGT using non-GKQ is higher than the data in GGT using GKQ.(4)American has higher level of narcissism than Chinese. Chinese are more confidence in GGT. They have higher accuracy, overconfidence, and betting acceptance. However, American has higher scores on GGT points.(5)Chinese have a difference on gender factor about overconfidence and GGT points when adopting GGT that uses GNK. There are no difference that caused by gender factor in other condition with Chinese and American. The gender factor makes a difference on narcissism in Chinese, not American. |
