The piano suite the Artist Conception of the Picture by Kaii Higashiyama was composed by the Chinese famous composer, Wang li san, in 1979. This composition was awarded of the first prize in the Forth Nation Music Compositions Evaluation Competition in 1985. Wang li san wrote the music immediately after he appreciated Kaii Higashiyama's paintings. He was deeply touched by these paintings, and as well, he was also moved by the monk of Tang Dynasty. The four pieces which are included in this suite have derives styles but they still have inseparable relations inside the music elements.This suite was being used newly methods and skills of composing. The author bravely combined the Japanese music mode and Chinese traditional music. He also used some other ways such as bitonality, polytonality, dissonant chords, compound chords to serve for the imagination world of music. He retained the principal part of Chinese ancient music and culture. At the same time, he created a new field and brought us some new concept of composing Chinese piano music.Because of the deep view of this suite, this thesis tries to analyze the background, styles, rhythm, keys, structure, themes and so on. Hope it can give help to those who are trying to play this composition. Support the learners with more information about practice, the key to play it more melodious.The aim of writing this thesis is to spread this special Chinese music to more people and further countries.
