Weiqu town and Duqu town with a long history of Buddhism, in the Chang'an district of Xi'an city, are not only the important base of Chinese Buddhism's disseminating but also one of the origins of Buddhist sinicization. After Buddhism was introduced into China, people there began to build temples. And after the development of Wei,Jin and the Southern and Northern Dynasties, Buddhism reached its peak in Sui dynasty and Tang dynasty when the famous Fanchuan's eight temples were built. Among them, Xingjiao temple is the origin of Dharmalaksana while Huayan temple is the origin of Huayan sect. Afterwards, as the result of rulers' different policies of Buddha and other destructive elements such as the war, landslide, earthquake, fire, sun, rain erosion, temples in Weiqu and Duqu experienced ups and downs and a large number of valuable Buddhist temples disappeared at length. At the same time, there are some temples that were destroyed several times but restored eventually and existed till today. These temples are rich in historical and cultural information and they are rare real object with important historical value for researching. Therefore, when we repair the existing temples, we need to strictly follow the principle "Repair it as it was". Besides, we must locate the era and the architectural styles of them accurately so that we can restore them according to the details, keep the style unified and repair them as the originals to the large extent. All of these effort will show the temples that full of historical, cultural, architectural value to us completely. It will help people to understand the temple itself more accurately, know the historical and architectural value of the temples more directly and protect the temples more actively. This is the aim we should achieve for restoring work. However, there is a shoddy, crude and careless imitation phenomenon today during the process of restoring the temples in Weiqu and Duqu, which reflect people's taking no responsibility and their random in the process. It shows that people don't realize the importance and the necessity of protecting temples entirely. Meanwhile, the government hasn't realized the development of tourism which related to the protection of temples. It hasn't combine the protection of temples with traveling exploitation either. In addition, the government has a negative attitude towards the repairing work of Fazhuang temple and Xingguo temple which are rich in cultural information. Therefore, the purpose of writing this article is to make a considerate analysis of the exiting temples in Weiqu and Duqu from roof, housing body, foundation, decoration and other aspects through inspection. Besides, the article also pointed the small mistakes exiting in repairing process in order to raise people's awareness of protecting temples. At the same time, from the comparison of Qing's edifice style, we can sum up the structure, feature and style of temples in Tang dynasty. And from these Tang dynasty buildings'characteristics, we can give suggestions to the repairing work of Fazhuang temple and Xingguo temple, which also are the part of Fanchuan eight temples. We wish this can be helpful for recovering the two temples. At last, from the angle of preventing fire, we should come up with the strategies of protecting temples in Weiqu and Duqu. We also need to recommend the government in Chang'an district to develop the Buddhist tourism scenery on the foundation of the rich Buddhist culture and beautiful natural resources. What's more, we should combine the Buddhist tourism scenery with natural scene, make a unified plan and exploit them together in order to publicize and protect the Buddhist temples. Do hope our Buddhist culture heritage can be preserved and Chinese culture can flourish.
