When the prepositional phrases and verb phrases were present, there are two linear sequences: prepositional phrase+ verb phrase; verb phrase+ prepositional phrase in the ancient Chinese. In modern Chinese, generally the linear sequence is prepositional phrase+ verb phrase. There are a few forms of the verb phrase+ prepositional phrase, it is the traces left by ancient Chinese, and this expression is usually used in written form."Yi"is among the several prepositions that can be used after the verb phrases. With the development of language, the"yi"in modern Chinese gradually lost the function to introduce the other features, downgrading from the syntactic level to the lexical level, forming the"Vyi"structures.The purpose of this thesis is to observe the"Vyi"and has analysis of two cases. Besides the preface and conclusion, the full thesis is divided into three parts.Chapter1: an internal structure of"Vyi". This section mainly researches the various elements of"Vyi", including access to the format of"V"and the nature of"yi"through analysis and investigation of the overall structural features of"Vyi"and impact of"V"on"yi".Chapter 2: the case study of"jiayi"."jiayi"has the tendency to adverb. Based on the syntactic features of the elements followed by"jiayi", we take the syntactic and semantic analysis of"jiayi", including the syntactic features and semantic attributes of"jiayi".Chapter 3: the case study of"geiyi"."geiyi"is the classical number of"Vyi". This part mainly describes and explains the functions of"geiyi"from the syntactic, semantic and pragmatic point of vies, in sum,"geiyi"has three functions, that is focus marked, statement changed, and sentences completed, and try to make a reasonable explanation for it. Lastly,there is a summary at the end of each chapter. The end is conclusion of the whole thesis.
