Firstly, this thesis discusses the widely existence and importance of unexpected events in the class of teaching Chinese as a second language(TCSL). It pointed out that the guiding principle of handling unexpected events in the class is to support language teaching as the center. And then based on the theoretic and practical foundation of TCSL, I try to analyze the cases of unexpected events. I collect the cases through my limited teaching experience, classroom observation, teacher interviews and some studies of other domestic scholars refer to unexpected events of class. Based on those materials, I try to divide the unexpected events of TCSL into two part according to the causes of those cases. The first part includes the events caused by student and professor respectively. The others are caused by outside environment. Though these analyses, I hope I can give some suggestions about how to improve the level of TCSL either in theoretical or in practical. It is of important for one who want to resolve the unexpected problems of TCSL to pay attention to the following steps, such as the knowledge accumulation before class, the strategy of resolving those problems during class time as well as the reflections of the strategy. In the following part of this thesis, I put forward eight reference ways about how to resolve the unexpected problems. Using Chinese to describe the events, pretending to be blind to those things and sending message to the students indirectly are three strategies of them. I hope the research level in this field can be improved and more specialists in teaching Chinese as a second language can focus on this issue. And in this way, we can really combine the linguistic theory and the practical teaching to explore a better way to teach Chinese to speakers of other language.
