Children's picture book is an important way for children to learn knowledge, so it plays a key role in educating the next generation. As a special category of book design, the developmental level of children's picture book design has an effect on physical and mental development of children and it has a great social significance and practical significance.Attaching importance to education is one of the China's fine traditions. With economic development and social progress, the Chinese families, especially the urban households, begin to be concerned about the growth of education in early childhood after meeting the children's basic living consumption and hedonic consumption. With the rapid growth in demand for children's books, the children's book market in China has attracted foreign and domestic booksellers and the competition of children's book become stiff. The innovation and design of children's books has attracted the attention of publishers and professionals.In order to meet China's rapidly growing demand for children's picture books, this paper aims at exploring the design of children's picture book. This paper focus on the building of children's picture book in a multi-sensory experience way. First, this paper clarifies the various definitions, development, and value significance of the children's picture book and sensory experience to create the sensory experience model of children's picture books. Secondly, in order to demonstrate the feasibility of innovative design of children's picture books, the market research and theoretical analysis of consumers and the children's book have been carried out respectively based on the sensory experience model of children's picture books. Finally, according to results of the research, we elaborate the ideas, methods and principles of children's picture books from visual experience, tactile experience and olfactory experience.
