According to World health Organization, people who are 60 years old in developing countries or 65 years old in developed countries step into period of aging. The aging of organ tissues of the elderly may result in physical, mental or emotional variations for the elderly. Attract record amount of the elderly bring about enormous pressure to families and society and cause a lot of social problems. In China, as society changing and restructuring, the traditional ideas and ways to support the elderly is affected.The methods of literature review, quantitative research and qualitative research were used to study quality of life and subjective well-being of the elderly and compared to the similarities and difference of the quality of life and subjective well-being among the elderly who have different support ways from families, communities and society.Firstly, according to objectives of this study and literature review, quantitative research was used to reveal the status of the quality of life of the elderly in China, to explore effects of the quality of life on subjective well-being, to explore the major factors which affect subjective well-being of the elderly, then to provide psychological basis for how to improve the quality of life and maintain relatively high levels of subjective well-being.Secondly, in-depth interview of qualitative research was used. Semi-structured Interview syllabus was used to interview and collect data, then analyses the data. Considered in thick description and holistic ways, descript the effects of different support ways on the quality of life and subjective well-being for the elderly. And explore nature of the fact and the relationship and the situational contexts.Several main conclusions were drawn from above studies as following:1)The gap of the level of quality of life between urban and rural is narrowing. But the urban elderly who enjoy rich social support resources have higher levels of subjective well-being than the rural elderly.2) Physical activity levels and mental function impact on the quality of life and subjective well-being of the elderly directly. The elderly who have a relatively high levels social participation can have higher levels of subjective well-being.4) Housing support for the elderly combines the virtues of family support and social support for the elderly. The elderly who have housing support enjoy higher levels of subjective well-being.5) The elderly pursue self-realization through a process since outside to inside, and seventy old is a turning point.
