In his old age, he didn't yield to the powerful and was reclusive in Lushan.The artistic origin of Wang Ruan's poetry can go back to Tao Yuanming and also can be contacted with the inheritance and development of Jiangxi poets. Wang's inheritances of Tao Yuanming were mainly about Tao's tremendous characters and his insipid poetry style. The difference between them is that Wang's poetry was created with the country's unfortunates, the people pains an his personal anxious. His his inheritances of Jiangxi Poetry ware the use of the use of allusions,the truth of drawing materials and the mind of inward turning, through which his poetry have the implication of Withered light thin strength and a deep sentiment.The art feature of Wang Ruan's poetry was his emphasis on the use of cold tones to render emotion. This feature made the emotion bitterer and more cheerless. Another feature is that he used the images of"water"and"mountain"to load his feeling, from which we learn Wang's deep feeling of patriotic and homesick,the pain of wandering and the desire of seclusion. But he also had some deficiencies which are mainly about he couldn't write with insipid creation technique masterly and he used the same allusion so frequently that make the poems looked similarly .Also some of his poetry were repeated.
