This paper starts from the social activities and literary activities ofthe scholars' circle around the ranking general Qian Wei Yan in LuoYang City in the middle of the Northern Song Dynasty Through thecomparison between this group and poets of Xi Kun Style, reformers ofpoetry and prose in early Northern Song Dynasty and the scholars' circlearound Ou Yang Xiu, this paper attempts to make a judgement of theinheritan relationship of them. And through the comparison betweenthis group and the scholars' circle to the East of the Capital, the presentpaper attempts to make a positive assessment about the rectifying rolethe scholars; circle around Qian Wei Yan plays in the innovation ofpoetry and prose of the Northem Song DynastyTaking Ou Yang Xiu, Yi Zhu, Mei Yaochen as the main membership,the scholars' circle goes in for their literary pursuits during the periods ofSong Ren Zong Tian Sheng and Ming Dao Years. What this circle hasachieved is of great significance in the respect of the innovation ofpoetry and prose. As for the innovation of prose, it abolishes the humblestyle of late Tang Dynasty and Five Dynasties; the florid and ornate styleof Xi Kun and the obscure,"Scholars' Style" to establish the smooth andplain prose style. And for the innovation of poetry it abolishes the eithershallow and vulgar style or ostentaious style of early Song Dynasty.Thecircle demonstrates through their efforts the wide range of subjects, theprose-like potential, the comments carried in the poetry of the SongDynasty.
