Between Beauty And Ugliness,

In the first part of the dissertation , I think the formation of human essence includes two processes. One is how the sensitivity is changed into the sense , the other is how the sense is?broken through by the sensitivity. The lust of sensitivity is one kind of the motive power,which contributes to the formation of the human essence. Aesthetic feelings are perceptual affirmation of the human essence, and so they are also the affirmation of the perceptual lust. As the form of the human essence , the perceptual lust can become the aesthetic subject . Evil is connected with the appreciation of the beautiful.As the unfreedom condition of the life, ugliness is connected with evil which usually results in the negative fight against the obstruction to the life. In addition, the apperance of evil is ugliness too.The humanity is formed by beauty, ugliness and evil. The aesthetic concept orientated by the ethics and the aesthetic concept orientated by the sensitivity are not only contradictory but consistent, and so are beauty and ugliness.As the conventional aesthetics shows, ugliness can be changed into beauty by two ways. The first way means ugliness can serve as the foil of beauty.And the sencond is the typification. In the dissertation, I think ugliness can not be changed into beauty by the typification. Beauty can be got from ugliness, and the human essence can be formed out of ugliness.In the sencond part, I think that the human culture originated from the sensitivity. Only for the sake of the rebuilding of the culture, can nugliness in the literature be of significance. During the development of the history, there exists antinomy between ugliness and beauty . The3~11t]~1contradiction between the process and the purpose of the practice , and the historical necessity that human must undergo the alienation to develop themselves , determine ugliness is necessary in their lives. So the historical reason and humanism are always contradictory. The writers should fix their attention on the social environment and the historical conditions from which the ugly things appeared. They should show the relativity of ugliness and beauty. Ugliness in the literature should not mean the criticism of the humanity ,but the appraciation of it.On the other hand, ugliness in the literature can also indicate the negation in the course of the evolution of the humanity. The antimony of the history indicates the human must experience the negative process of anti梙umanity before evolving into the better phase.The beautiful in the ugly will not be revealed until we look closely at it historically.In the third part, the dissertation mainly discusses the modern significance of the appreciation of the ugly . I think that we will be more detached through the appreciation of the ugly and it can expand the subjectification of ourselves.The spiritual power cultivated by the apprecition of the ugly not only offsets its bad aspects but also makes people know better the noumennon of the life. Meanwhile, human抯 ability of grasping the world is also elevated on the whole.
