| “Ugliness-appreciation” is an aesthetic category opposite to beauty-appreciation,as the object of perceptual experience activities.According to the viewpoint of Marxist practical aesthetics,seemingly free aesthetic sensibility judgment has always been restrained by rational practical purposes.This mean,the beauty is “purposiveness”.On the contrary,ugliness is the summary of“non purposiveness”,that is,the image of irrationality.Human reason can be divided into pure reason and practical reason,The former follows the innate principle of cognition and pursues truth;The latter follows the moral law of practical reason and asks for goodness.The irrational characteristic of ugliness is “anti-pure reason” and “anti-practical reason”,The activity of“ugliness-appreciation” is the active experience of both.The motive force of “ugliness-appreciation”lies in the elan vital of “id”,that is,it tends to satisfy the selfish desire and resist the order to fight against the reason.After thinking about the correlation between the general cultural production and the religious cultural production,this paper analyzes the three principles that the artistic production of “ugliness” follows: “mirror” of the world,“orientation” of the soul and “long” of redemption.The “ugly” image of religion refers to the unpleasant formal features of religious culture,such as the crucifixion of Jesus and Christ with distorted limbs,the devil with savage face,the Vajrapani and the Deity with angry eyes.According to the art production rule of “ugliness”,it can be found that “ugliness” is a rhetorical device for redemption: religion not only makes “absolute” appear,but also builds a platform for people to talk with the infinite,narrate the story of “crime” and“punishment”,and finally points to the self-salvation of human. |
