It is the one-sideness and superficiality in the study ofthe ideas of the early state in China that lead up to develop difficultly inthis field. On one hand, the state theory of Marx and Eengles has governed the ideas of Chinese schoolars for long. On the other hand, there areseveral kinds of prejudice such as classic evolutionism and suspecting ancient history in the study of the ideas of state. So the Chinese traditiona1culture was covered and difficult to see the truth.I suggest that the character of the ideas of state was based on the roadon which the state was born, so I try to explain the ideas of state at a newangle. The centre of the ideas of state is the idea of governing with De,which was born from the public power in the prehistoric society when thechiefs of the tribes got power by controlling social functions such as governing flood. The ideas of religion, law, economy and nation all unitaround the centre idea, so there are much more colour of realistic traditionin them.
