"Xishanqinkuang"is one of the most important monograph about the theories of guqin. Because it is the first one to combine the aesthetics theories with practice of playing guqin both in China and in the world. It has very important position in the research field of Chinese ancient music aesthetics. In accordance with the context of "Xishanqinkuang" the author mainly analyses its music aesthetic ideas from two sides. One is the mu- sic aesthectic conceptions. The other is the aesthetics ideas about playing guqin. "Xishanqinkuang"'s music aesthetics conception mainly stems from the Confucianists and the Taoists'music aesthetics ideas. At the same time, it blends the Confueianists and the Taoists'music aesthetics ideas and forms its unique music aesthetics conception-"Danhe" Under the guidance of the music aesthetics conception, "Xishan- qinkuang"advances a series of aesthetics theories about playing guqin. The thesis mainly analyses it in detail from two sides. one is the external abi1ity-the basic skills of fingers wrists, arms and body. The other is the internal ability-the practise austorities of ears,heart,morale and spirit. Only in this way, we can give a perfect porformance of guqtn. The thesis is composed of two 1)arts. The first part is music aesthet- ics conception. It is composed of three chapters. The first chapter is the embodiment of the Confucianists"music aesthetic ideas. The second eharpter is the embodiment of the Taoists"music aesthetic ideas. The third charpter is the music aesthetic conception in "Xishanqinkuang" The second part is the aesthetic ideas of playing guqin. It is composed of two charpters. The first charpter is about the external ability. The sec- ond eharpter is about the internal ability.
