Bing Xin's "philosophy of love", which gives us the deep impressionand has the tremendous charm, is the most important part in her wholecareer of writing. She embodied her "philosophy of love" in extollingmaternal love, description of childlike innocence and praise for nature. InBing Xin's eye," maternal love" was the tool, which can get rid of all thepain in the world. So it was great and sacred. For this reason, Bing Xinwrote innumerable articles to praise "mother love". "Ji Xiao Du Zhe",which was written in the United States was the best representative work. The description of "childlike innocence" was another important theme in"philosophy of love". Bing Xin loved children deeply and was glad toprovide food for thoughts for these "angels". She described her life ofchildhood and what she saw and what she thought cordially and3childlikely, which gave great benefit to children. Bing Xin worshiped thegreatness of pature and had special emotion to nature. Therefore, many readers weredeeply moved by her essays. People can gain comfort from her work andstrike a responsive chord with her work.Bing Xin's work fully embodied the outlook on world and life of"philosophy of love", which were closely related to the influences fromthe Chinese and Western culture and philosophy of Tagore. Bing Xin wasborn into a family with strong Confucian atmosphere and deeplyinfluenced by Chinese traditional culture, in missionary school, Bing Xingot in first touch with Christianity, the tender heart of Bing Xin wasprofoundly moved by its "universal love" and she wanted to interpreted"universal love" of Christianity with her articles. Tagore was theadmirable poet by Bing Xin. The early formation of Bing Xin's"philosophy of love" was keenly influenced by his "pan-loveism".After careful analysis of Bing Xin's "philosophy of love", I felt it hadsome limitations---the narrow realm of thought. The limitations werecaused by the cultural sources Christianity and Greek culture, whichprovided the western culture with individualism and dense social4awareness and surpassing awareness, were the two basic points ofwestern culture. According to Chinese culture, the meaning and purposeof people were determined by families and Chinese culture lack socialawareness and respect for people. Although Bing Xin was influenced byChinese and western culture, the influence of Chinese culture was morethan that of western culture. in her work, we can hardly find anythingembodied individualism and social and surpassing awareness. In contrast,we could find a lot of her work embodied Chinese traditional culture. This defect hindered her from attaining higher goal.
