resist the north Mengolian power's attack and to reclaim and arrange theWestern Regions, the Ming Dynasty established early or late SevenWei along the north-west border during the Dynasty's earlier stage. The HamiWei among them was located to the vital communication line from the Middle area to the West, which was set up in the forth year of YongLe ages and lied to the Hami area of Xinjiang today. From the historical records, there were three tribes named the Huis, the Ugur and the Halahui tribe, Many studies and works have been made arotflnd the condition of the first two tribes, but few about the Halahui. Apart from some scarappy, the special study seemd more poor. This paper is to research the history of the Halahui like that: firstly, the Halahui tribe had belonged to one subordinate of AnDingWei in the Western Regions formerly, They maybe moved into Hami area during HongWu ages. When AnDingWei was in confusion and splited and lived in Halahuai Area in Hami. Being very differ from the other two main inhabitants in Hami: the Ugur andtheHuis, they called themselves the Halahui, which named after their residence. Afterwards, many other tribes of TarTar and Vala joined, they developed stronger . Secondly, soon after the Halahui tribe had formed, the Hami Wei was lost several times on account of the Turpan power belonged to the eastern ChaHeTai country fighted for it with Ming Dynasty, which led to many sharp changes on the Halahui's residence and lives cycle, most of the Halahui people migrated to GanSu area inside JiaYu Pass in succession, so their national charactristics seemed reconcile conditions such as custums, religion believes and so on. Besides, the writer also analyses and sets forth on the questions of their population and management, etc. Thirdly, Halahui tribe were also firmly connected with Ming court and Hami government. Not only sincefely helped the shake and crumble government, but positively cooperated and even took part in many battles towards Turpan state. Furthermore, they got the same tributing right with Hami, which made them keep in tributing contact with Ming Dynasty for more than one hundred years. Maybe, there are many insufficient and unsuitable ideas on those initial studies of the author have made, so I am very glad and eager to be criticized and advised by as many as experts in it. Thanks!...
