Modern Chinese Conditional Logic Analysis

It is noticeable in the field of grammar to study the theory of compound sentence, and conditionals is a main kind of all compound sentences, conditionals is composed of single sentence .So it correspond with hypothetical proposition. This paper analyzed conditionals and hypothetical proposition from both linguistics and logic angle in order to promulgate similarities and differences.The preface gave a historical introduction to conditionals.The first chapter mainly analyzed the types of conditionals in two respects. According to relation conjunctions reflects, conditionals can be divided into three types: hypothetical compound sentence, conditional compound sentence and unconditional sentence; According to whether the content of is objective or not, conditionals are types as indicative conditionals and counterfactual conditionals.The second chapter expounded the logic character of conditionals. On the basis of "three planes theory" (syntax,semantics,pragmatics) , this paper analyzed the logic character of hypothetical compound sentence and conditional compound sentence, explored reason of "implication absurd talk" and gave it a proper explanation.The third chapter discussed truth-functionality of conditionals and pointed out conditionals truth depends generally on truth of forward and afterward sentences, but conditionals has not truth-functionality in special situation.The last chapter clarified definition .logic character and truth definition of counterfactual conditionals.
