In objective world, time and space are the essential property of material. Depending upon the undersdanding, man forms certain conception. As a style of hunman cultures, art records the man's undersdanding of time and space with its sensatory way. In ancient Chinese art, the understanding of time and space especially has its own characters just as follows. Firstly, ancient Chinese artists use the conception of emptiness and reality, which is comparatively abstract, to grasp space, that is to say, interpreting it in constitution, and time in fluctuation and transformation of material. Secondly, in a very distinctive way with strongly unrestrained subjectivity do the ancient Chinese artists treat space and time, which then are employed as a medium to express their own feelings. As the conceptions of space and time in ancient Chinese art are an important style in history of human cultures, the researches into them will be very beneficial and provide a new angle for us to undersand the art.
