The research on learning and its process remains to be the core of educational psychology. At present, educational psychology has a new look at learning, that is constructivism.Although they agree that the world is objective, the present constructivists believe that people's understanding of the world and its meaning is decided by the individual himself. People keep constructing, or at least explaining the reality based on their own experiences. Owing to his different experiences and different beliefs on them, each individual may have different understanding of the outside world. Constructivists concern more about how each individual learner constructs his own knowledge based on his own previous experiences and beliefs. The emphasis is on the individual's initiative, socialness and situation in learning.With the development of society and economy, society has a much higher demand on the students' level of foreign languages. At present, however, the English of non-English-major graduates is not satisfactory. Their speaking and listening can not meet the need of the society. It has been discovered in the survey that many activities in college English classroom are not in accordance with the latest development of educational psychology and the students' needs. Based on constructivism, the latest development in educational psychology, the author of the thesis investigates the theoretical foundations of constructivist classroom activities, the activities that are hi accordance with constructivism and their characteristics and teaching principles. The author also puts forward some advice on the training of College English teachers and the students, and the improvement in teaching material as well.
