The second classroom is a very important part throughout the education system and is particularly important for college English as a practice-based subject. Krashen (1981) divided the language learning process into two parts---input and output, both parts are equally important. In actual college English teaching, classroom teaching hours are limited and most of them are used for input, but output---equally important section---is paid little attention, which results in that college English teaching raises higher requirements on the second classroom.In this paper, the author tries to make a survey on extracurricular English learning of students from Wuhan Railway Vocational College of Technology---a demonstrational higher vocational college, to find out the problems of college English second-classroom and the root of the problem and the way to solve the problem. Through questionnaires and interviews, the author found that college English second-classroom has the following problems:first, the school did not pay enough attention to the second classroom, management system is not enough; second, teachers on publicity and guidance is not enough; third, students’ learning habits is passive, awareness of autonomous learning is poor.To solve these problems the author put forward three solutions:the school strengthens the investment and management on hardware and software of the college English second-classroom; teachers pay moderate attention to guide students and cultivate students’ interest in learning; students change learning habits and cultivate autonomous learning awareness.
