Inscriptions Synonyms Study

Synonym that expresses the same or similar conception is a particular paradigmatic relation of Chinese vocabulary. It exists widely in the past dynasties literatures, which is one of the symbols of the abundence of Chinese vocabulary. Synonym in che bronze vessel inscriptions marked that Chinese vocabulary in XiZhou and Chunqiu Zhanguo is rich. If making an investigation of it to the synonym in the bronze vessel inscriptions, and making a comparison of the classic works that handed from ancient times, we will find out that Chinese vocabulary has inheritance from ancient to nowadays and has distinctly epoch characteristic. By making a study of the synonym in the bronze vessel inscriptions, the thesis tries to trace down its origin (i. e. oracle-born inscriptions) and to speculate its successor (i. e. classic works). Therefore we can investigate some clue of the development in Chinese vocabulary and understand the evolution of the people' s thought level, and provide some precious material for the study on the Chinese vocabulary of the ancient times.The thesis is divided into four parts:Parti: the preface, which introduces briefly the basic facts about the study of synonym in oracle inscription and bonze vessel inscription, and that analyzes the definition and the judge standard for the synonym.Part2: the investigation of the single-syllable synonym in bonze vessel inscription.Part3: the investigation of the double-syllable synonym in bonze vessel inscription.Part4:the generalization and summing-up of the thesis.
