There are many famous writers who are well-known by the readers in the history of Modern Chinese Literature, but some writers who gave off much the same light and the heat also for the Modern Chinese Literature are less known, Zhou Wen is an outstanding representative of them. Zhou Wen is one of the most important writers among Zuo Lian, and his novels reflect chiefly less-known social lives of warlord domination of the Chuan Kang( the western part of Sichuan province today )under the influence of Mr. Lu Xun , and rich in the unique artistic charm. This thesis regards him as object of study for this reason, and hold discussions through three parts.Part I: The Background Scanning. Sichuan that is well known throughout the world for The Land of Abundance has inspired numerous outstanding writers because it possesses unique landform and culture. From ancient times to the present, the writers depict largely the middle part, the southern part and the eastern part of Sichuan , but few writers describe the large territory of the western part of Sichuan, where are dwelled by minority nationalities. Zhou Wen lived in the Chuan Kang of the western part of Sichuan at the teen-ages. He knew, felt, pondered over and learnt through his personal experience the Chuan Kang's life. Later he went to Shanghai and was engaged in creation of literature about the life of the Chuan Kang society. Therefore, the context of Chuan Kang's distinctive culture and the second section expounds Zhou Wen's distinctive experience and aesthetic experience restricted and decided significant world and valuable choices of the novels.Part II: Revealing Mysterious veil of Chuan Kang, Significant World of Zhou Wen's novels. Zhou Wen's creation of the novels had only more than five years. The greater part of the novels revealed really the life of Chuan Kang according to ZhouWen's experience, such as The Season of Tobacco Plants, At the Town of Bai Sen, The Red Ball, On the Hillside, Under the Hillside and so on. These novels revealed mysterious veil of the Chuan Kang society. They described the Chuan Kang society of mutual fight and brimming with smell of blood in front of the readers. Firstly, the Chuan Kang's warlords, queer circle of fight and internal consumption. Secondly, the Chuan Kang's politicians, power mingled with benefit. Thirdly, the Chuan Kang's soldiers, the contradictory of swallow and slaughter. Fourthly, the Chuan Kang's masses, alienation of oppression and anesthesia.Part III: Valuable'Appraisal of Zhou Wen's novels. As far as development of modern and contemporary Chinese literature is concerned, Zhou Wen's novels posses unique contribution and wide influence on our native literature and dig of human nature, and their values can't be underestimated.
