Carl Czerny, the Austrian composer, pianist and educationalist, produced 24 pieces of messe, 4 pieces of requiem, and works of other types such as symphony, overture, sinfonia concertante, sonata, chamber music, and choral symphony. Altogether, he produced at least 1000 pieces of works. At the same time, he composed a lot of etudes among which there are more than 80 volumes which are often used by piano-learners.Czerny Etudes Op. 740 is a must for piano-learners to improve their musicianship from middle level to advanced level. The gap between Op.299 and Op.740 is just the difference between a fish and a dragon. Most piano-learners give up for fear of the difficulties. That is because in Op.740, there are technical tasks of all kinds, extending from early Classical piano-performing techniques to those of Romantic, including touch, ways to perform, rhythmic style, tremolo, grace note, double stopping combined by different fingers, the. expanded and contracted fingering, the rotary move of arms and wrists, the alternation and intersection of hands, harmonious cooperation of hands, and etc. As far as the requirements for performers are concerned, Op.740 is no worse than the etudes of Chopin and Liszt. In this thesis, two remarkable features of Czerny Etudes Op. 740 will be discussed: First, aims of technical training are clear and concentrate. Second, many kinds of skills at touch are mixed together. Meanwhile, classified according to techniques, examples and music sheets as well, the article is dealt with the practical use of Czerny Etudes Op. 740 in education, talking from five-finger type, scale, broken chord, doublestopping, octave, wide leap, expanded and contracted fingering, reverberation, undulating homophony, tremolo, repetition of unison homophony, harp, and chord, and independence of finger. Moreover, since Czerny Etudes Op. 740 is mainly about technical training, it is emphasized also in this thesis how to add some supplementary works emphasized more on music itself in education, other than mere training of techniques. It's helpful for us to realize clearly the aim of the training of techniques is to express effectively the musical beauty and emotions behind.
