This thesis is an article on Dunhuang culture heritage and it focuses on the geomancy clerks among all sorts of clerks. This thesis really reflects the characters of the folk and the people's customs in the period of Tang, Wu dai and Song dynasty.This thesis can be divided into six parts. The first part is about the object and the ex-period preparation. The second part reflects the main characters of the geomancy by the development of geomancy. The third part records, corrects and sorts the geomancy clerks in Dunhuang articles. With the second part, it proves that the period reflected in the articles should be the period of Tang, Wu dai and Song dynasty, which provided the fact testimonies for us on peoples social customs. The fourth part analysises the thesis embodied in these geomancy clerks and testimonythe principle feature--maturity, perfect. The fifth part is the core of this article. Itre-emerges some social life scene in this period in Dunhuang area by the rich people's custom resource provided in these geomancy clerks. It provides the most valuable data on the life history in this period. The sixth part makes the comcise remark on viewpoint on geomancy.On the approach of this article, it begins from fundamental data-input and data-correct, and makes great effort to grasp the most detailed history data. On the comtract between these history data and epitaph data, we can make precise characterization on geomancy clerks.
