In accordance with the sequence of description, interpretation and pragmatics, this paper studies the particular linguistic phenomenon- the structure of adverb of degree modifying noun ( abbr. Adv.+n.)?on the basis of researching on a lot of linguistic materials and analyzes the categories and traits of this collocation, the various factors which form and constrain the collocation as well as the expressive function of this collocation. This paper mainly includes:First, I summarized the categories and traits of adv.+n. structure and generalize the possibilities and emergent frequency of adverb of degree and various nouns structure. As a result, five main categories of adv.+n. are worked out. In addition, some analysis about constraints on the relative adv.+n. structure is presented.Second, I revealed the semantic basis of adv.+n. structure. Starting from the quality meaning and condition meaning of nouns, I throw light on the existence of reasons to and proofs of adverb of degree plus noun structure. I compare the strength and weakness of quality meaning and condition meaning, and I describe the other external forms of the quality meaning and condition meaning of noun, at the same time, I analyze the structure of noun and the relationship between strength and weakness of quality meaning and condition meaning of noun.Finally, I generalize the pragmatic value of adv.+n. structure. This linguistic phenomenon has the specification of ever-indefinition. With the interference of humanistic culture, language becomes more cultural, and at the same time, it increases the pragmatic frequency of adv.+n. structure. As to the expressive effect, adv.+n. structure follows the law of economy, it has the merits of complement, vagueness, flexibility and innovation and diversity.
