The Gadamer Aesthetic Thought

The paper mainly discusses the H.G . Gadamer's hermeneutic aesthetics. Gadamer's aesthetics are based on his philosophical hermeneutics. It expounds the aesthetic and annotation have a link of coordination and harmony because the author' s opinion of the same between the art experience and truth. His aim is strive to find a road to the truth by an non-scientic way, so the author believe that aesthetics must belong to hermeneutics. The thesis consists of five parts.In the first part, it introduces the development of Gadamer's philosophical hermeneutics, including the thoughts from Husserel's phenomenology and Heidegger's. And the relationship between hermeneutics and aesthetics.In the second part, Gadamer inherit Heidegger's thoughts about art. He thinks that art declare truth. He criticizes the traditional aesthetics and emphasizes the contribute of the poem.In the third part, Gadamer shows considerable concern with the issue of play. He believes that play is given for the sake of its own, in which both the player and the audience are the subjects, for experience of play is of identity and publicity. Gadamer's view of play is chronological in organization and historical in methodology, which develops the significance of play in the concepts of field, awareness of effect and historical visibility, namely, being is giving .In a word ,play is both the form of existence of art and the form of existence of human beings.In the forth part, it mainly about the understanding of artwork. Gadamer thinks that understanding itself has its own Wirkungsgeschichte ,so the meaning of the art is neither come from the author nor the reader but from the Horizontverschmelzung.In the last, Gadamer's theory give much impact on the western aesthetic, Reception-aesthetics was directly based on the Hermeneutics, and the research on aesthetic pay much attention to how to appreciate the beauty instead of what it is.
