The six violin Sonatas without company composed by Bach in 1720 have laid a milestone for polyphony performance in melody instrument and are reputed as " the Bible for Violin Music". Among them, the magnificent chaconne, the second partite of the Fifth Movement,ranks an unprecedented master piece in violin literature. It fully demonstrates Bach's untrammeled inner sentiment, wealthy fantasy and imagination, and superb polyphony performing skills. Backed by the times of Bach's music, this thesis is to probe the thinking and composing characters of chaconne, analyze systematically the chaconne structure from the theoretical point, and give a though study of chaconne's performing skills.
