Ouyang Xiu Landscape Literature Study

Ouyang Xiu is a very important character in the history of Chinese literature. He not only led the literary reform movement in the mid-Song period and made great influence on the literature of Song dynasty, but also made brilliant achievements in his literary production. However, Ouyang Xiu's landscape works was looked down all long. Ouyang was not famous for his landscape writings, but he wrote many excellent landscape works indeed. The whole style of Ouyang Xiu's works is plain, natural and fluent. Some win universal praise and work on the afterworld. Therefore, we should attach importance to his status in Chinese landscape literary history. This article attempts to study Ouyang Xiu's landscape literary works, seeks new angle of view and takes whole attention to his landscape poems, landscape vocables and landscape travel notes. This article also wants to judge of Ouyang Xiu's landscape literary accomplishment rightly.This article consists of four parts. The frontal three parts study text. The first part discusses Ouyang Xiu's landscape poems by stages, linked with his political livings. The second part probes into Ouyang Xiu's landscape vocables, clued to subject matter. The third part research Ouyang Xiu's travel notes and ting-tai notes, based on whether he arrived there or not. The forth part jump the text. It surveys the forcing action of demotion to Ouyang Xiu's landscape literary writings with rational sight, opening out the profound infection of Ouyang Xiu's landscape literary achievements.
