Hanshiwaizhuan (waizhuan for short below ) , during the learning history, seems to be an embarrassing literature, which, though namely to hand down Shi Jing (Classic of Poetry), didn't aim at interpret it. It scatteredly tracked record of some stories from radical works and history works , and in the form of random talk elaborated some priciples about managing state affairs and conducting oneself, and therefore appears not to be a forcible works. What on earth are waizhuan and its aim? How is its learning significance? The writer, during the course of reading intensively waizhuan, found that it can be a thought treatise, which created a relatively comprehensive thought system in certain approach. Compared to other thought treatises that are solemn and manifest, it is vivid in form and covert in reason, and therefore is not recognizable to the world. The paper aims at reconditioning the train of thoughts of waizhuan and unfolding its thought views, so as to position it with reason in thought-culture history. This paper thinks that waizhuan applied the methodology of body-to-application and origin-to-tip to setting up its system, and made cosmos, person, personality , reason and other metaphysics its body, and made the thought of managing state affairs and cultivating morality its application, and made inaction and other Taoist thoughts the body of managing state affairs and cultivating morality, and made rule of the rites and other Confucianist thoughts the application of managing state affairs and cultivating morality, and thus made body and application, origin and tip combine with each other. The thought of waizhuan possesses the certain significance in the thought-culture history, and is especially significant for studying the thoughts of Han Dynasty. This paper is composed of three chapters. The first chapter elaborates metaphysics about cosmos, Person, Reason, Reason in waizhuan, including four sections: ontology, view of nature, humanism, and view of history. The second chapter is about thoughts of managing state affairs and cultivating morality in waizhuan, including three s'ections: original Taoism and tip Confucianism in thoughts of managing state affairs and cultivating morality, manage-state-affairs thoughts combining with inaction of Taoist and rule of the rites of Confucianist, and cultivate-morality thoughts combining with natural inaction of Taoist and prefer-honour-to-life of Confucianist. The third chapter is about the significance of waizhuan on the thought-culture history, including four sections: first, waizhuan aimed at not interpreting Shi Jing (Classic of Poetry) but applying it, so as to put the study of Shi Jing (Classic of Poetry) in Han Dynasty to further prpolitical ethicalization; secondly, waizhuan put Confucianism to further practicality; thirdly, waizhuan theoretically contributed to finally accomplishing the thought system of whole unification of Dong Zhongshu's cosmos-person combination; fourthly, waizhuan pursued ultimate body and amalgamating Confucianism, and [initiated the first signs of metaphysics.
