Shanxi Hongdong Dialect Words

One manifestation that the research on Chinese dialects becomes more comprehensive and profound is that of the dialects grammar description. Modal particles is not only an important characteristic in Chinese language, but also a significant part of Chinese dialects. The modal particles in dialects are abundant and varying respectively. Different dialects have their own system of modal particles.This thesis is about the description analysis and observation of Hongtong dialect on the basis of modal particles synchronically and diachronically. It divides modal particles seven categories, they are descriptive, interrogative, exclamative, imperative, suspended, and subjunctive. It intend to show the functional features, the way how it takes shape though the analysis on sentence structure and pronunciation ,display the sameness and difference of every modal particle through analysis on assumption, find the way how comparison with standard Chinese pronunciation ,and the investigation on the modal particles in Hongtong dialect, such as 也; 哩,呢; 么, 嘛, 吗; 着 and so on .
