I Environmental Thought Comment

During the Spring-Autumn and Warring States Periods, the emergence of environment problem and thought contend on the ground of economic and political reason provided realistic reason and theoretical bade for production of Lao Tze's environment thought. By means of "Dao", Lao Tze proved that Heaven have independent character and be on an equal footing with human being, Heaven and human being is an unity. In order to attain the goal of Heaven and human being conforming to the "Dao". Lao Tze exhorted people to follow attitude of conduct and code of conduct. Lao Tze's environment thought is systematic. Through comparative analysis, we can find that Lao Tze's standpoint of equality; unification, harmony and equilibrium have important use for reference to modern western environmental ethics.
