We study a kind of comparative sentence, which is called in this paper comparative sentence of "meiyou" type, with the structure "A meiyou B (name) X" . In this type of sentence "meiyou" serves as a comparative word to make a comparison between the comparative subject A and comparative object B. A typical example is "Jintian meiyou zuotian (name)This paper is divided into four chapters.Chapter 1 is mainly concerned with the syntax characteristics of this kind of comparative sentence. Firstly, we study the syntax symmetries and asymmetries between the comparative subject A and the comparative object B. Secondly, the syntax features of X is discussed. It is argued that only elements describing degree, such as relative quality adjectives, psychological verbs, "you+Noun" , can be used as X.In chapter 2, we focus on the semantic features of this kind of comparative sentence. To begin with , we analyze the semantic types of A and B , Next, Some semantic features of X , such as the semantic types, the semantic direction and the fussy meaning are discussed.In chapter 3, by analyzing the pragmatic structure of this type of comparative sentence we point that the comparative sentence of "meiydu" type can have different pragmatic structures and pragmatic meanings if the position of the comparative point changes. In addition, we analyzing the usage of "name" and argue that it has two main functions. Finally, the pragmatic tendency of this kind of comparative sentence is addressed. In chapter 4 , we first study three related comparative sentencepatterns— "méiy'u+Np" , "zài…méiy'u", "méiy'ubǐ..(zài/gèng) " .The syntactic features, semantic features and pragmatic features of them are discussed. Then, we argue that the comparative sentence of "meiyou" type have some particular features in terms of syntax, semantics and pragmatics compared with other kinds of comparative sentences such as sentence with "you" and sentence with "bùrú...
