This paper is mainly about the ceramic tableware design of Scandinavia at 20th century, focuses on three countries which are most important and distinguished: Finland, Sweden and Denmark. Arrange the development of them with timeline and country difference, particularize and analyze the most famous ceramic tableware designer and the most important design, also with their design theory and method. Through the arrangement of related information, I hope to grasp the development status of modern ceramic tableware design of Scandinavia. Through research, I found that the ceramic tableware design of Scandinavia at 20th century gained great success. Especially after 1950's, under the direction of this theory: "design for beautiful life", the designers paid much attention on both functionality and artistically of the ceramic tableware, strive hard to improve both of these aspects and get very good result. With such effort, the Scandinavia design accepted at world wide range and became "International Style".The atrocious weather and geography make this area lack of natural resource, and design become an important way to make living and change life style, thus design are paid much attention at these countries. As a daily use product, ceramic tableware design is highly regarded by government and socialite, these all pushed the development of modern ceramic tableware design of this area.
