Hebei Dialect Sharp And Sound

The problem of sharp and rounded sounds is very important in dialects. In Hebei dialect the separating and merging of them in dialects is unbalanced and the pronunciation of them in social colonies is not uniform. The thesis tried to observe the process and present situation of the merging of them, and to disclose the law of their development through describing the pronunciations at the dialect place where sharp and rounded sounds are separated to the South of Baoding in Hebei Province.In accordance with the characters third and fourth deng(等) of jing(精)group in the middle ancient times contained in the character list for dialect investigation. The thesis selected 200 characters in common use in the countries and cities to the South of Baoding in Hebei Province. It cited the dialect places where sharp and rounded sounds are separated in detail and summed upthe six types of pronunciations: In addition, the thesis counted up the situations of the present pronunciation of the characters of fine sounds in jing (精) group in 35 dialect places in 10 countries and cities and made synchronic description of pronunciation among people of different ages. By analyzing the differences of the pronunciations of new and old groups in the dialect places, the thesis summarized developing law of the merging of sharp and rounded sounds in Hebei dialect, the merging of them is restricted by the inner factors of speech sounds and at the same time relate to non-speech sounds conditions such as the new and old of words and their frequency in use and some social factors. At the end,the thesis forecast the developing trend of the merging of sharp and rounded sounds.
