Preliminary The Eastern Zhou Traveling Burial System

The institution of burial with chariot and horse is one of the important ritual institutions of funeral culture in ancient China . With lot' s of remains of chariotand horse have been discovered during recent years, the study of the institution has been given more and more attention by the fields of both history andarchaeology. Meanwhile, lot' s of new materials make the study possible, too.The thesis mainly makes a systematic study of the remains of chariot and horse belonging to dynasty of Easten Zhou that were found up to now in China. Based on previous studies, combined with ancient books and documents and according to the areas ruled by different sub-kingdoms, the thesis deeply discussed the regularities of development and correlative problems of the remains of chariot and horse in the institution of the burial with chariot and horse, in sub-kingdoms and area ruled directly to emperor of Zhou, in the dynasty of Easten Zhou. It also includes the forms of pits of chariot and horse, regularities of development of types of burial with chariot and horse in sub-kingdoms, categories of burial with chariot and horse by periods, the analysis of the problem of six horses-dragged chariot monopolized to emperor, etc. It also makes a complement to the shortcomings in the study of institution of burial in the dynasty of Easten Zhou, and so, it reaches totality of the cognition of the institution of the dynasty of Easten Zhou and complete the process from point to whole and from surface to internality.
