| Nowadays both domestic and foreign scholars study the words of Han dynasty with the object of Shi Ji, Han Shu, Lun Heng, neglecting other representational works. Yang Xong was a famous litterateur, philosopher, linguist of Han dynasty, Fa Yan is his magnum opus. This paper will study the disyllabic and polysyllabic words in Fa Yan from the construction mode point of view, with the destination of putting this book into historical river and studying the evolvement and development of the ancient disyllabic and polysyllabic words.The paper will do such things as follows:Above all, the paper analyzes the vocabulary in Fa Yan one by one, getting rid of the single-syllabic words and phrases, searching out all in Fa Yan and calculating the sum.In the second place, the paper classifies all disyllabic and polysyllabic words into coordinative compounds, subordinate compounds, verb-object compounds, subject-predicate compounds, affixations, reduplications, non-reduplications, counting the sum of the disyllabic and polysyllabic words in each construction mode and the percent of every sort of the disyllabic and polysyllabic words to the whole disyllabic and polysyllabic words in the book and the percent between each sort of the disyllabic and polysyllabic words.Subsequently, the paper studies the construction characters of each sort disyllabic and polysyllabic words thoroughly. The method is: describing the construction mode of disyllabic and polysyllabic words from the aspects of acceptation, part of speech, word order. The work is tremendous, and it is the emphases of the paper.Finally, according the achievements of predecessor( including all kinds of works and papers studying the disyllabic and polysyllabic words in one book or in one era), contrasting the construction conditions of the disyllabic and polysyllabic words in Fa Yan with that in Xian Qin and Xi Han dynasty, summing the succession and development of the disyllabic and polysyllabic words in Fa Yan on construction. |
