The Left-wing "Revolution and Love" novels model which prevailed in the late 1920s and early 1930s of the twentieth century are a controversial literary genre in Chinese contemporary literature history. It should not be ,on one hand willfully overestimated and exaggerated because of certain political reason, while on the other hand completely ignored and depreciated from a particular literary stand. Actually, the genre carries and highlights the characters of its period, possesses some poetic and human thoughts as well as literary and aesthetic value; however, at the same time it has obvious contradictions on its own part. From both macroscopic perspective to identify the historical and social conditions of its birth and spread and microcosmic perspective to examine its text, the author places the novels model into the framework formed by the four key elements of literature, and tries to present the novels' specific property of being in the transitional period of history and the turning point of literature, thus to make an objective and correct judgment of the novels' literary value and their significance in literature history. The thesis consists of three parts.1. The background of the emergence. The writers, the audience and the world are three important elements of the background, and they are always in a state of change. Because of these changeable elements, the novels could not be pure revolutionary works, and they embody the dual characteristics of both the individualism of the May 4th Movement and the proletariat literature, The emergence is a fortuity of a transverse section of history and society, as well as an inevitability in the process of the development of politics and literature in modern China.A. Change in literary concepts following the change in history. The cruel facts of Chinese society in the period deprived the individualism of the May 4th Movement of its possibility of existence and development. The great revolutionary literature stepped on stage. The "Revolution and Love" novels model was the transition from "literary revolution" to "revolutionary literature". B. The inner contradictions of the writers. The Left-wing "Revolution and Love" novels model is the reflections of the realistic life of the progressive intellectuals who encountered conflicts between the group(revolution) and the individual(love) and their eclecticism choice under great personal conflicts. These novels conceal information about particular cultural thoughts, dual personality construction and complicated spiritual undergoing.C. Change in the audience's aesthetic conceptions. After the fall of the Great Revolution in China, a political anxiety aroused among the people. Instead of focusing on listening to the rebellious cries, they hurriedly looked for outlet of the anxiety. The novels model nurtured the expectations of the revolution and the future, and also depicted love which interested the progressive youth. Therefore, revolution literary works changed from "minority creation" to "majority creation". 2. Text examination. This section will cite certain works as examples to deliberate the mutual relationship between revolution and love, with the focus on the process in which revolutionary intellectuals revolutionize and collectivize love - a highly private feeling,A. The harmony of revolution and love in the revolution. The harmony of revolution and love takes the form of young intellectual women's gradual becoming revolutionists. Quite soon they changed from petty bourgeoisie to revolutionists. However, owing to the loss of their consciousness of they themselves being their own masters, they are not the complete new people of the times.B. The conflict between revolution and love in the revolution. The conflict between revolution and love takes the form of the hero's joining the revolution after love failure in some novels of this kind. But he does not willingly give up love, on the contrary, he endures an anxiety caused by the transition.3. The evaluation of the Left-wing "R...
