"Linqing tune" and "Tianjin tune", folk music forms with characteristics of folk songs and folk art, have been formed on the basis of the folk music of Ming and Qing Dynasties, and were combined with local dialects and rhymes by the joint force of regions, aesthetic standards and special social demands. Though each has its own artistic feature, they are closely related to each other due to some historical reasons. During a particular historical period (in a broad sense, it refers to the time after the Canal opened navigation after Sui and Tang Dynasties, and in a strict sense refers to the prosperity of the folk culture, especially the Ming and Qing Dynasties), tune art played the same social role in Linqing and Tianjin, which were once well-known places for canal navigation. However, with the changes in their economic and historical status, tune melody showed different developing trends in Tianjin and Linqing. There are few works on the relationship between "Linqing tune" and "Tianjin tune" by the predecessors. This thesis gives a relatively comprehensive analysis from the angles of folklore learning, sociology, economics, aesthetics and combines with on-spot investigation of folk songs collection in Tianjin and Linqing. Taking the development line of the tune music collated by the methods of the historical musicology as the ordinate, and the music knowledge analysis about the essence of the two music types as abscissa, this thesis attempts to analyze the economic reasons for the formation of the urban folk music and its propelling force on the folk melody, to analyze the contribution of the canal culture to the formation of folk culture after Ming and Qing Dynasties and its characteristic shown in the development of tune art, to analyze the social psychological constitution of women music which is an historical carrier for preserving and developing the tune music, to analyze the inner driving force behind the rise and fall which caters to the audiences' aesthetics interests during recent generations. There are five parts in this thesis.Chapterl is General Introduction .talks about the present research situation about "Linqing tune" and "Tianjin tune" so as to make clear the research emphasis and methods of this thesis.Chapter2 describes the change in the tune melody distribution and the relationship between "Linqing tune","Tianjin tune" and the folk music of Ming and Qing Dynasties.Chapter3 analyzes improvement of the economics and politics status of Lin and Jin regions brought about by the development of the canal navigation and penetrates into culture and art area. The deformlized development of urban commercial economy accelerates the distention of urban folk culture, and in this circumstance musicians have become the special cultural carrier of tune melody.Chapter4 demonstrates their relativity in music and their own regional variation by analyzing the musical forms of "Linqing tune" and "Tianjin tune" from the perspective of musicology.Chapter5 summarizes the varying development trends of the two music types by analyzing and thinking from several aspects about the decisive role of urban economic factor on the ups and downs of urban culture, the decisive impact of urban cultural space, the social cultural emotions under the transformation of the social forms, and the decisive role of the social functionalism upon folk music.Through the above comparison and analysis, this thesis comes to a conclusion that, "Linqing tune" and "Tianjin tune" have come from the same source and have a mutual spread and influence during some historical period with the help of canal culture and musician system. The economic development can decide the fortune of culture to a certain extent. As an up-to-date tune, tune art reflects the relationship between the economy and culture in terms of their social functions.
