Both Ai Qing and Dai Wangshu are very famous poets for their modern poetry in 1930-1940's in China. Their highly yielded poetry and solid poetic theories, not only set up significant models in their era; but also produce a far-reaching effect on today's poets. There are so many similarities and differences between them in poetic creation and theories, for both of them draw lessons from western symbolists to write modern poetry, so studying them comparatively is a very valuable and great practice. This thesis intends to entirely evaluate the two poets from culture orientation and taking artistic nutrition of Chinese and western cultural resources.
