The thesis is on Jia Ping - wa from the view of comparative literature study. The whole text is divided into four chapters. The first chapter starts from the analysis of the different in riligion, culture, philosophy, thought, forms of art then to the difference of literature between China and the West. The second and the third chapters, from the angle of micro - aspect, deal the works in details focusing two parts: "what to write" and "how to write" from which one can see Jia's adaptation and development in this process of conflict between Chinese culture and the Western culture. I mainly set forth the new change of Leisurely and Comfortable Literature and the two themes of "love and beauty" and show how the human consciousness and modern consciousness get through them, then follows the discussion of Jia's language to show how he express the characteristics and flavor of Chinese language through his works by adding something new and different from Chinese. In summing up Jia Ping - wa's creative works, given them an evaluation, I attempt to evaluate and appreciate his works from the perspective of domestic literature as well as international literature field. As a result, I present my view concerning the literary theme of the 21th Century, discuss the issue of the Religion as well as the Harmony between Man and Nature. In a word, Western people tend to make everything clear while Chinese just mess it up, which underlines the whole thesis of mine. The very essence of the paper is to purse the Harmony between Man and Nature on the basis of Chinese culture. That is, to melt the little self into the big cosmos thus to achieve harmony. In this way, the individual could get salvation from the worldly sufferings, and then help the common majority find their way out. This hypothesis is rather impractical, however, one must be far - sighted or at least have such consciousness.Fan Juan (Academic Field: Chinese Modern and Contemporary Literature)Directed by Jia Ping-wa...
