| Since the 1930s, the female literature has become one of the important branches of Chinese Modern Literature. Among all the female writers, Zhang Ailing has been peculiar because of the special characters in her works. One important attraction of-her works is the combination of feeling and sense. The heroes and heroines in her works are sympathized and satirized at the same time. She is also good at handling the complicated relationships among characters and disclosing the human nature. One of her contribution to literature is that she has revealed and developed the romantic tradition of "old novels" basing on the modern consciousness. The love between men and women in her stories are not spiritual but social. She has created a new form of novel by the combination of the modern ideas and words together with the traditional ideas and word.This paper studies the ideas and artificial characters from the four parts:I . The thick tragic consciousnessZhang is a writer with thickly tragic tincture, often overlooking the world with a sober even cold attitude. Through her narration, the readers can peak the lonely spiritual world of modern people and the desolate atmosphere spread over her works.II. The deep discovering of human natureZhang has followed the principle of combining the beauty and ugliness together. She analyzes the human nature through love and marriage, especially through the "normal" weakness of human nature. The small characters in her story have been given understanding and forgiveness.III. The punctuality to the social lifeZhang has given the equal position to "stability", "foreverness" with "femininity" , most of whose subjects came from the odds of her life. . She believed that only coming deep into the reality, society and the complex life, can the literature found the real base.IV. The cold and desolate discourse languageZhang has placed her feeling and wisdom, love and hatred, hope and dreams on the opening words, images, admonition, and concluding remarks. . |
