Image is an important concept in Chinese classical literature theory, and it originates from aesthetic appreciation of classical poetry .It is largely used in analysis of classical and modern poetry, but rarely seen in aesthetic analysis of classical essay image. This thesis compares the difference between classical poetry image and classical essay image by reading a lot of works of art and analyses the component parts and engendering angle of classical essay image. It tries to find out the special feature of classical essay image and hopes to promoting the appreciating and creation the beauty of essay.Classical poetry and essay image have the same basic characteristics that is they have the same component parts of thought and image, feeling and sight. Comparing with classical poetry, essay has the different forms of language , thinking of composition and expressing thoughts and feelings. Essay can offer readers its own aesthetic enjoyments.Essay has free and flexibly expression forms. It has the aid of all kinds of rhetoric skills and means of artistic expression of poetry and novel and even of drama. Essay express images by mixing portraying scenery and conveying emotion and describing stories and comment. In essay details describing is used to image expressing, and frankly commenting is used to express the heart world and depth of thoughts of the author. Essay is the literary form which is close to the soul of authors. The expressing of essay image is gradually going deep into a high level ,and readers can understand the spirits of author by the sceneries, things and persons described in essay. In a word ,essay aesthetic image is a world of soul which has the character of being free ,full of feeling ,real and moving.
