Chinese traditional culture has a high regard for "Image", which is an indisputable fact that none accepted this culture that has problems to go along with. About "Image" there is a long history in our nation and there are a number of penetrating discussions in Chinese history of aesthetics and literary theory criticism. Even the west "Imagism" movement once absorbed nutrients from Chinese traditional literature. Chinese classical image theory is the essence of Chinese culture, from mythos image at remote ages, to Zhou Yi’mutative image, to Zhuang Zi’large image, to image in the Literary Mind and the Carving of Dragons, to image theory in Tang, Song, Ming, and Qing dynasty. Chinese image theory grew and turned matured gradually in history blood.The image symbols system still runs in today cultural life, and provides new opportunities for the development of contemporary Visual Arts.The first chapter is an introduction part of this thesis, describes the research background and current situation of study, the research methods and ideas, the aim and significances of this study. Through the current situation of study at home and abroad and information retrieval, we have found that the current research and application about image still focuses on traditional arts sectors, such as poetry, painting, calligraphy, etc., little refers to the Visual Arts in current era, including dance, film and TV and other issues. Meanwhile, the concept is more close to the meaning of image in the Western countries.It’s not the continuity and heritage for Chinese classical image thinking.This paper will take Chinese classical image as the breakthrough point, contemporary Visual Arts as the carrier, probes the perfect interpretation of Chinese classical image in contemporary Visual Arts.The second paper summarizes and sorts out the origin and meaning of Chinese classical image, makes a clear analysis of the origins and relationships between Chinese classical image theory and western image theory, and defines the basic connotation of Chinese classical image.The third chapter makes a definition of the Category of contemporary Visual Arts, through a comparison between traditional and modern Visual Arts.And points out the Aesthetic Idee in contemporary Visual Arts and its basic features. The last chapter selects water, month, flower and other typical images, by examples of television series "Qiao Jia Da Yuan", the design of2010Shanghai World Expo and so on, analyzes the perfect convey of Chinese classical image in contemporary Visual Arts minutely, then analyzes and summarizes the deductive laws of Aesthetic Idee in the course of actual application.
