On the one hand, father right had strengthened; women's status descended and was supplanted from political and economic domain. Public opinion made various criterions and restrictions. Women couldn't disobey these restrictions and submitted to men. On the other hand, because Ancient Greece and pre-chin period weren't far from enatic clan, women had a little freedom in some aspects. But, because of the difference of social system and culture, the women's status also had a few differences. First, the Greek polis had deprived women of almost all rights, they had no right to govern the polis affairs, inherit family lands and property, hold and control own dower. But in Sparta women's status of politics and economy was loftier than Athenian and pre-chin women', they had right to inherit and dominatefamily property and lands, govern polis's affairs. Comparing with Athenian women, pre-chin women could participate in the political affairs in a certain extent, women in Shang Dynasty and the noble ladies in Spring-Autumn and Warring-States periods had great influence on politics. Women in pre-chin could possess of the right to manage the family property. Second, the both had no right to choose their husbands and marriage, men mastered the right of marriage and divorce, and women only were the tool of procreation and housework. The social criterion astricted women's action, men was on high position, women were on low position, men could be prurient, but women must be duteous. Women in pre-chin had a little freedom in chasteness. Finally, Athenian women had an important degree in religion, they could take part in religious festival and celebration, had right to assume the office of augur, but pre-chin women were only the assistant in religious activities. Women in Ancient Greece and pre-Chin were excluded from school education, only accepted housewifery education, which made women be ignorant. The study and compare of women's status in Ancient Greece and pre-Chin made people not only to know roundly the temporal societies, but also see distinctly the same and difference of women's status, which was the result of the interaction between the multiple cultural elements of the social system, its economy, politics, education and social customs. The study told us to realize the liberation of women, we must embarkfrom the society boot, changing traditional consciousness, making women work as possible as they could, have their own rights on economy, and get the same chance to be educated, thus a new and harmony society in which both men and women could have the equal rights and get along rather well will come into being.
