The Perfect Combination Of Poetry And Song

"Journey of winter", the vocality series, is the most important part of Schubert's whole works and we can take it as a summary of Schubert's artistic composition. "Journey of winter" was composed in the year of 1827. The Austrian poet William Moellor's homonymic suite of poems provided the foundation for this composition . This vocality series is composed of twenty-four songs which are related with one another. The author devoted his whole emotions to this composition and this piece of work has a graceful rhythm and is filled with inenarrable romance and melancholy. If we want to have a study on this work, we must have deep understanding and make detailed analysis on the historical and social background of its production , its genre nationality. At the same time, we must also make analysis on the artistic style of thepoet and the composer. At present, many scholars have given a deep study and analysis on Schubert from different point of views. But few of them have studied Schubert's artistic songs especially the style of his composition and the skills in dealing with his composition when singing. Therefore, this thesis chooses "Journey of winter",which is Schubert's most representational work, as our study target. In this thesis the author will give a particular annotation on the style of the composition and the skills of singing.
