China is a unified country with many ethnic groups and is one of the earliest civilized nations in the world. The 56 ethos together created the prosperous and splendid cultures and illustrious science and technology in the process of the historical development. However, because of the restrictions of the natural and geographic conditions and the "convention administration" policy of past dynasties, the social and economic development of the regions of ethnic groups is extremely imbalanced. Before 1950's, pre-capitalism social patterns (primitive society, slave society and feudalism society) are maintained in these regions to different degrees, which is the "alive fossil" of the history of the social development.
