'Changde Yugu' is one of the most important kinds of the folk vocal art forms in China, that is, it is a main part of the 'Yugu Daoqing' in south China. It contains the profound folk culture as well as 'Changde Sixian', but artists paid less attention to it than to 'Changde Sixian'. This thesis applies the practical investigation method and discusses the basic characters of 'Changde Yugu', the transmission of the artists and its social position and the function in different periods and gets a conclusion: there is a close relation between the artists and the transmission and the variation of this kind of folk vocal art forms. The artists play a very important role in the existence and development of 'Changde Yugu'. Besides, this thesis appeals more attention to this kind of folk vocal art forms in artistic field and literary field.This thesis is composed by introduction, content and conclusion and the content is composed by three chapters.The first chapter is mainly about the general situation of folk vocal art forms in Hunan province, the general situation and the distribution of folk vocal art forms in Changde district, the main characters and the history of 'Changde Yugu' and the differences between Yugu forms in different places.The second chapter discusses the characters, methods and the variation in the transmission and performance of 'Changde Yugu' according to the interviews of the artists.The third chapter discusses the interference of the government and the cultural department. It also discusses the social position and the function of 'Changde Yugu' and its artists in different periods.
