The predictors of college students' attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help were studied among 700 Chinese college students and 45 college students' visitors who seek professional psychological help voluntarily. Each participant form different grades and specialties completed questionnaires. The findings of the investigation are elaborated as the following:1. Fischer and Turner's (1970) Attitudes toward Seeking Professional Psychological Help Questionnaire (ATSPPH) as well as Singelis and Sharkey's self-construal scale (SCS) was revised in this research. They have good reliability and validity and are Suitable for using in China.2. In this research, there are six variables, which can significantly predict the attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help: whether or not seek help, interdependent self-construal, self-concealment, specialties, internality and gender. The order is according to their predictive ability.3. Gender is a significant predictor of attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help. Female students' attitude is more positive than that of the male students.4. Specialty is a significant predictor of attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help. The attitude of students who specialty is sports or art is more positive than that of the students which specialty is not sports or art.5. Interdependent self-construal is a significant predictor of attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help. The attitude of students who have interdependent self-construal is more positive than that of students who have not interdependent self-construal.6. Self-concealment is a significant predictor of attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help. High self-concealment students' attitude is more positive than that of low self-concealment students.7. Internality is a significant predictor of attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help. Internal students' attitude is more positive than that of external...
