At present, to study English well is very important. People especially take care for the English education of the minority student. Generally speaking, the English level of the Yi(Sani)student is lower than that of the Han student in the Stone Forest County. When analizing the reasons, the educators always think of their mother tongue's (the Sani language)disturbing,firstly. The English study of the Sani student is influenced mother tongue.After analizing and comparing the two languages phonetics, vocabulary and grammar, there exist many commons in English and the Yi language In the phonetics, they both have the consonants and vowels. The voiced consonants and the voiceless consonants are corresponding mostly Existing the parts of speech in English, but eleven kinds in the Yi language, most of the words and expressions have the similar usages. It is important to English suffix changes in studying English. The derivation, conversion and compositions are the same ways of forming words in the two languages. The word order is essential to the Yi language. That is" Subject + Object + Verb". The Sentence structure of English is simpler. Its word order is" Subject + Verb + Object". It is more difficult for the it student them that of the Han student. So in the three factors more differences are in the grammar. In order to find out the suitable teaching method for the minority student, it is necessary to know some commons and differences of the two languages and the character of the Sani student. So that we can improve their English greatly.
